Tlepolemus and Hiero

Tlepolemus of Cibyra, a Greek artist (wax-modeller) who with his brother Hiero (painter) had been driven from his city for despoiling the temple of Apollo and served Verres as his pair of expert scouts and accomplices; granted Roman citizenship and thereafter known as Cornelii (Verr. 2.4.30; 2.3.69). Type-figures of the Cornelii of Sulla's enfranchisement.
