Aspendus

Aspendus, an old and important city of Pamphylia in southern Asia Minor, famous for its statues and for its school of harpists (whence Cicero's anecdote about the inward-turned harpist at Verr. 2.1.53). Verres stripped its public spaces of bronze on his return from the East.
