Cibyrae

Cibyra (in Phrygia, in southwestern Asia Minor), one of the cities of the conventus of the Roman governor of Asia, capital of the Cibyratis. Under Murena (84 BC) it had lost its semi-independent status and been incorporated. It produced the artist-brothers Tlepolemus and Hiero (Verr. 2.4.30); Cicero held assize there in his Cilician proconsulship (Ad Att. 5.21).
