Clastidium

A town in Cisalpine Gaul (modern Casteggio) where in 222 BC the consul Marcus Claudius Marcellus killed the Gallic chieftain Viridomarus in single combat and won the spolia opima. Cicero cites Marcellus's valor there as not the product of anger.
