Halicyae, a small inland city of western Sicily (modern Salemi), originally Elymian; a free community under Rome. Home of Sopater, of Eumenides, and other Sicilians who appear repeatedly as witnesses against Verres (Verr. 2.2.68-78; 2.5.15).
