Lerna

A spring and marsh near Argos in the Argolid, the lair of the many-headed Lernaean Hydra slain by Hercules in his second Labor. In the dying Hercules' speech from the Trachiniae quoted by Cicero, the hero recalls subduing Lerna by slaughtering its foul serpent.
