Macedonia
also: Macedonas, Macedon
Macedonia, the old kingdom of Philip II and Alexander, made a Roman province in 146 BC after the rising of Andriscus; the chief land military command on the Greek frontier throughout the Republic. The province's spoils figured in the De lege agraria debate (1.5; 2.50); and in the late 40s it was the disputed prize of the conflict between Antony and the senatorial party (Phil. 3.26; 7.3; 13.30).
