Pachynum

Pachynus (modern Capo Passero), the south-eastern promontory of Sicily, one of the three classical "corners" of the triangular island. The Verrine fleet under Cleomenes put in here in flight from the pirate Heracleo and ate wild palm-roots in default of supplies (Verr. 2.5.86).
