Perge, an old Greek city of Pamphylia on the Cestrus river, famous for its great sanctuary of Artemis Pergaea. Verres stripped the temple's gold during his Cilician legateship (Verr. 2.1.54). Birthplace of Artemidorus (Cornelius the doctor).
