Saguntum

A town on the east coast of Spain allied to Rome, whose siege by Hannibal in 219 BC triggered the Second Punic War. Cicero recalls the embassy the Senate sent to Hannibal over Saguntum as the precedent for sending legates only to foreign enemies.
