also: Sicyon

Sicyon, the old Greek city west of Corinth in the northern Peloponnese, the seat of an important school of painting (Pamphilus and Apelles) and a city much praised by Cicero as a centre of art. Cn. Dolabella's depredations there as governor of Cilicia are recalled at Verr. 2.1.44.
