Tarentinis

Tarentum (modern Taranto), the great Spartan colony in southern Italy, taken by Q. Fabius Maximus in 209 BC. Its silver of Europa on the Bull and other treasures were a regular point of Roman art-collection reference (Verr. 2.4.135). One of the Italo-Greek cities that bestowed citizenship on the poet Archias (Pro Archia 5, 10).
