Callisthenes (Theophrastus)

the Callisthenes

also: Callisthene, Callisthenes

A lost dialogue of Theophrastus, named for Callisthenes of Olynthus, in which he praised the maxim that fortune, not wisdom, rules our life. Cicero reports that this saying was attacked by all schools as the most spineless thing ever uttered by a philosopher.
