Gnaeus Octavius (consul 165 BC)

The first of his family to reach the consulship (165 BC), said to have won votes by building a splendid house on the Palatine. Cicero uses him to show how a fine house may bring distinction, and how his successor Scaurus brought ruin on the enlarged property.
