P. Servilius Vatia Isauricus, consul 79 BC, proconsul of Cilicia 78-74, conqueror of the Isaurian pirates and of mountain Lycia; triumphed in 74. Father of the consul of 48 BC. A weighty consular present at the trial of Verres (Verr. 2.1.56; 2.5.79) and a frequent point of reference (De lege agraria 1.5; 2.50).
