A Sabine town northeast of Rome, in a fertile upland valley; in 54 BC the Reatines engaged Cicero to plead their water-dispute against neighbouring Interamna over the Velinus drainage (Att. 4.15.5).

Reate was a town in the Sabine country northeast of Rome; the "crown" (corona) was a golden votive wreath the Reatines were offering, a gesture of allegiance to the victorious Caesar. Cicero reads such deputations as the first stirrings of a Caesarian proscription.
