Ad Atticum 15.28
Ad Atticum 15.28
Headnote
Cicero to Atticus from the Arpinum estate, 3 July 44 BC — Perseus dateline Scr. in Arpinati v Non. Quint. a. 710 (44), the same day as 15.27 and probably sent on the same courier. A single-section note. Cicero confirms that, as written the day before, he will be at the Puteolanum on the Nones (7 July) to wait there for Atticus’s letters, especially news of Brutus’s games — on which Atticus must also write to Brutus directly. He attaches no fresh copy of Brutus’s enigmatic letter, having sent the copy the day before. The closing line is a small grace-note to Atticus’s daughter Attica: make my excuses, but tell her my love goes with me unchanged.
As I had written to you the day before, I had decided to come to the Puteolanum on the Nones. There, then, I shall daily await your letters, and especially about the games — about which you must write to Brutus as well. Of his letter, which I could scarcely interpret myself, I sent you a copy the day before. Make my excuses to my dear Attica in such a way as to lay all the blame on you, and assure her even so that I have carried off with me a love for her that has not changed.
