The Roman personification of Victory, with a celebrated cult-image (a small gold Victoria) at Syracuse. The figurine torn from the hand of a great statue of Jupiter Imperator is one of the showpiece outrages of In Verrem 2.4.

Victoria, the deified personification of Victory. A gilded statue of her was carried in the procession (pompa) opening the games; the crowd withheld applause because of resentment at "so bad a neighbour" --- a statue of Caesar set beside her.
